1998 Soter Beacon Hill Brut Rosé
Yield
in Tons Per Acre: 1.8
Cases Produced: 500
Drinking Window: Now
Stylistically the 1998 bubbly is quite similar to the 1997, perhaps with a
purity of fruit that may eclipse the previous release.
The fruit character from the Beacon Hill vineyard is evident in the 2003 release
of sparkling wine, the 1998 Brut Rosé. After three full years "en tirage"
(resting on the yeast), the 1998 was disgorged in April 2003. This gorgeous
salmon-colored bubbly promises to provide great pleasure to all wine lovers,
not just sparkling wine fans. Made from 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir, this
wine is rich, ripe and vinous in addition to having elegant little bubbles.
The enticing aromas suggest fresh berries and crème brûlée. The palate is rich
and fulsome with a dry, crisp and precise finish. A luxury cuvée by any standards,
it is altogether refreshing and a surprisingly useful wine to accompany a broad
range of foods.
