The Team

Tony Soter works year-round both in the vineyards and cellars of the winery. His approach is to let the vines teach him about the fruit that they yield. Over the course of nearly 30 years as winemaker, Tony has come to understand what viticultural practices will produce the finest wines given the growing conditions for each vintage. Tony oversees all operations of Soter Vineyards.

Michelle Soter, with her extensive background in marketing, lends her insight and guidance to the overall direction of Soter Vineyards. Her deep belief in sustainable farming keeps Soter Vineyards consistently challenging ourselves to be more ecologically friendly. (Photo courtesy of Jay McDonald)

James Cahill, a 10+ year veteran of the Oregon wine industry, works full-time as winemaker with Soter Vineyards. James came to Soter after a long stint with our esteemed neighbor, Beaux-Freres. Whether he's in the winery or the vineyards, James is on site every day. He's intelligent and dedicated - highly personable and invigorated by his work. It is his commitment to the study of wine that fits so well with Soter Vineyards' winemaking philosophy. (Photo courtesy of Jay McDonald)

Veteran viticulturist Joel Myers and his Vinetenders provide the hands-on care in our vineyards. Joel is highly experienced, working with Oregon vineyards since the mid 1970s. He is a strong proponent of sustainable farming practices and, like Tony, was farming organically long before it became fashionable.

Tony, Michelle, James, and Joel work closely on all aspects of the business of growing grapes, making wine and making it available to customers across the country.
