Countdown to Summer Solstice

It’s incredible what difference a month can make. Since we’ve last written, Chef Sara has advanced on Top Chef and won the hearts of fans and judges through her love of tiny fish, tiny dogs, yogurt and her oh-so memorable giggle. But of course, it’s her raw talent as a chef that has propelled her through this competition, and we hope you continue to cheer her on and celebrate her wins. If you’re keen to know a bit more about Sara, follow her on Instagram, join her mailing list, or read this thoughtful interview with Michael Russel.

And don’t forget, our Top Chef competition is still on! Each week the show airs, settle in with your favorite snack, pop a bottle of Soter wine, and send us a photo of you and your friends watching the show. Each time you tag us in a photo or send us your pic, you will be entered to win one of two incredible prizes.

HOW TO ENTER

Step 1: Tune in to Top Chef and watch Sara compete with some of the best chefs in the country!

Step 2: Open a bottle of Soter wine and savor the goodness with friends and neighbors.

Step 3: Document! Tag us on social media or email your photo to beki@sotervineyards.com to be entered to win. You can enter every week the show airs and winners will be drawn after the season finale.

One week after the season finale, we will draw two winners and each will have their choice of prizes.

Prize #1 - Perfect for locals or those stretching their weary travel legs! Join Chef Sara for a Provisions Tasting for up to six people right here at Mineral Springs Ranch. This experience explores the art of food and wine pairing and showcases the best our biodynamic farm has to offer.

Prize #2 - Don't live locally or can't commit to an in-person experience? No problem. Select prize #2 and we will ship you a Soter culinary care package that will immerse you in the bounty of Mineral Springs Ranch.

Chef Sara’s German Pancake

Need a show-stopping brunch menu but don’t have loads of time to dedicate? This recipe checks all the boxes in presentation, versatility, and time-efficiency. The pancake batter is simple and quick to put together, can double as crepe batter, and can even be made up to a week in advance and kept in the refrigerator for all of your pancake and crepe desires. To ensure maximum lift for your pancake, make sure the batter is at room temperature before using.

"I thought it would be a great time to share my recipe for a German Pancake, aka Dutch Baby! I love hosting brunch in the spring before the weather gets too hot, and German pancakes are incredible because they really do impress and are so easy!"

Bud break swept through the vineyard and our greenhouse has officially moved into sauna status.  In fact, the warm weather made it possible for us to start harvesting produce in earnest from the farm again – everything from tender spring greens, to radishes and bok choy. Anthony Starkey, our ex-cook turned master gardener, has been Nadine’s right hand man on the farm this summer and he’s keeping our cooler stocked! The best place to taste the farm is by joining us for one of our Provisions Tastings. We recommend playing hooky and coming mid-week for a

In the winery, we wrapped up disgorging the 2017 Brut Rosé, which members will have a chance to snag in a pre-release slated for mid-June. Winemaker Chris Fladwood began blending our sumptuous new Estates Chardonnay, which you will get to enjoy in the Spring of 2022. What a full season it is! With all this spring excitement, it feels right to be celebrating Oregon wine all month long.
